Norman McLaren was an animator from Great Britain who came to Canada in the late 40's and made a bunch of short films for the National Film Board. He used a method of painting directly on the film, as well as computer music and other bizarre methods of creation. |

Dan is rushed into surgery, suffering from internal bleeding. Libby and Sam endure an anxious vigil at the hospital and Libby worries that the stress is triggering Sam's bipolar disorder. Sam opens up about her illness and gives Libby some insight into how she has learned to cope but admits that this is the first time she's been seriously tested since she has been well. Things get even more tense when Dan comes round after his operation and asks to see Libby rather than Sam. His heart on his sleeve, Dan declares his love but Libby insists that they have no future until he and Sam have resolved their past.
Steve fears that telling Ned the truth about his childhood will ruin his little brother's idealised vision of the Parker family history. However, after some coaxing from Miranda, Steve comes clean and Ned is horrified to learn that Jim Parker used to be an abusive drunk who cheated on their mother and locked Steve in a shed when he was just five years old. Having had some time to come to terms with the information, Ned reveals he isn't angry. However, he warns his big brother that he needs to stop trying to protect everyone else and learn to let other people help him deal with his problems.
News of the mineshaft misadventure leads Marco to think about how short life is. He decides it's time to come out of his father's shadow and pursue his restaurant dream. A light-hearted conversation with Lou about buying the General Store plants the seed of an idea...
As Carmella prepares to head off to Italy, she draws up a roster allowing Marco and Oliver to spend equal time with the baby. Unluckily for Oliver, a Lassiter's business meeting clashes with his scheduled Chloe time and he's forced to ask Marco for a favour. Now that he's dropped the assault charges will the two men be able to reach a compromise? |

When no heartbeat is detected on the ultrasound, Rosie and Frazer are forced to come to terms with the fact that Rosie's "pregnancy" was never viable. Their pain is compounded when they return home seeking peace and quiet, only to walk straight into their surprise baby shower. Rosie can't face telling her friends and neighbours the truth but Sam can spot that something is wrong. With her support, Rosie and Frazer find the courage to make the news public and the Ramsay Street residents share their heartbreak. As grief-stricken Frazer tries to reach out to his wife, he is shocked by her belief that she is to blame. She never wanted the baby and now she is being punished.
Meanwhile, Dan worries that supporting Rosie will be too much stress for Sam. Having only just come to terms with the loss of their own child, he expresses amazement and admiration for her strength. Her impressive coping skills prove how far she has come in learning to manage her bipolar disorder and Dan is reminded of the woman she used to be; the woman he fell in love with. Unable to deny their connection any longer, they kiss.
Declan manages to ditch the party and convinces his mates to head back to the Number 26 garage for some band practice. Rebecca is furious with his continued disobedience and feels patronised when Steve casually suggests that if she was a more relaxed parent, her son wouldn't be such a rebel. Before their argument can escalate, Miranda pulls her husband away. She notes that since opening up to Ned about their father's abuse, Steve has been ridiculously laid back with his own children. She accuses him of overcompensating but Steve refuses to acknowledge there's a problem.
As news of Rosie and Frazer's tragedy spreads, everyone is reminded of the importance of family. Rebecca and Declan's feud is put aside as she realises how lucky she is to have such an infuriating child in the first place. |

Stressed out about Dan, Sam struggles at work and snaps at Rosie and Rebecca. Realising she has little choice but to come clean, she tells Rosie about her bipolar disorder. She's relieved and grateful when, far from firing her, Rosie offers her understanding and support. Meanwhile Dan and Sam set about the painful task of coming to terms with their past. They start by examining the fact that they never grieved for the child that they lost but their discussion uncovers some hurtful truths: Dan was never entirely sure that the baby was his.
Ned comes home from hospital and Mickey is unusually clingy. Realising that the poor kid is terrified of losing the father he has only just found, Ned decides to join their upcoming Queensland trip and turn it into a full family holiday. However, just as Ned makes plans to take Mickey to meet his grandparents in Oakey, Kirsten receives a tempting counter offer from Paul. Having been knocked back by Rebecca, Paul gives Kirsten a plane ticket and tells her to meet him in Paris. Can she refuse?
Carmella continues to crack the whip over the warring men in her life and begs Marco to have mercy on Oliver. He agrees to switch babysitting shifts so that they can both have quality time with Chloe and make their business meetings. To Marco's disappointment, his father doesn't show up and instead sends his mother to give him a guilt trip about leaving the family business. Marco is pressured into staying with the Silvani fruit empire but insists he's still going to buy the General Store with Frazer.
Challenged by the hunk of manhood that is Ty Harper and humiliated by their punishment sessions with Susan, Declan and Ringo decide to form a rock band. Bridget is blown away by Ringo's musical ability and happily accepts his offer to teach her to play guitar.
Tell me in your comment whether you think Declan and Rachel are a cute couple or even if Ringo and Bridget are? |

Frazer and Rosie are overjoyed to discover that they are pregnant after all. More in love than ever, they decide to recover from the trauma with an extended trip to Italy. However, their departure means an uncertain for future for Ringo and Rachel notices that her stressed out friend has stopped eating. Bridget is suspicious of their secret discussions but Rachel refuses to break Ringo's confidence. However, as she becomes more and more certain that Ringo's eating disorder is returning, she urges Ringo to talk to Frazer. Frazer overhears their heated exchange and puts them both on the spot... will Ringo come clean or will Rachel be forced to spill the beans?
Pushed together by their living circumstances, Elle and Oliver find themselves rekindling the flames of their old attraction. Trying to keep the conversation platonic, talk turns to work and Elle is impressed when Oliver concedes he hasn't handled the General Store liquor licence battle well. When she hears that Frazer is looking to sell his stake in the profitable little business, Elle makes an impulsive decision to save Oliver from himself. She goes into partnership with Marco herself on the condition that the liquor licence issue is postponed for six months. Unsure whether Oliver will be pleased or see it as an act of betrayal, Elle's attempts to tell him what she has done are derailed by Oliver's attempts at seduction.
Susan catches Samantha running away from the dinner party at Number 32. As Sam makes her mumbled excuses, Dan appears with Ben and Libby and the awkwardness is palpable. Talking through the events of the night at Charlie's, Sam reveals she doesn't doubt Dan's fidelity. However, she admits that she finds it hard to watch his rapport with Ben and Libby because she knows that life with them would be easier for him than life with her. Dan reassures her that Libby is a friend and a colleague but nothing more. He's still entirely committed to giving their marriage another chance. |
